Roman Villa of Weirading

The Roman Villa of Weirading is located in Altheim (Upper Austria), and represents a great example of how climatic conditions made Roman architecture adapt and change. This virtual hypothesis shows a villa where the living area is connected to a small bath house through a monumental corridor, where most likely statues and other ornamental features were placed. Next to the villa, geophysical prospections revealed ovens and other structures related to production activities.
The site has been lately investigated through geophysical prospection methods by the team of the ZAMG (Klaus Löcker and Ralf Totschnig), which results were also combined with old excavation and geophysical prospection reports.
